The electric guitar is one of the central instruments in pop and rock, and its expressive power comes from how it's played and how the sound is shaped. The amplifier and effects are part of the instrument: the sound can be warm and round or distorted and sharp.
An electric guitarist switches between accompanying and playing solos. Both roles are practised from the start.
The recommended starting age is 7 to 8. In Avonia's pop, rock and jazz studies, students can join a band as soon as they have the basic skills, because AMP lessons combine theory and band playing in the same lesson.
