Classical music

Recorder

Starting age: from 6.

It is easy to produce a sound on the recorder from the very first breath, which makes it an excellent first instrument. However, it is not just a beginner's instrument: a great deal of demanding music has been written for the recorder, especially in the Renaissance and Baroque periods.

Players start on the soprano recorder. As their skills develop, they can move on to the alto, tenor or bass recorder, and together these instruments form a whole recorder consort.

Children can start at around the age of 6. The instrument is affordable and light to carry.
